CRACKLING LOG FIRES, FINE FOOD AND
WINES IN A ROMANTIC DEVON HIDEAWAY
Proprietors
Robert and Susan Wood
Built as the 'Sanctuary' around
the 16th century, and later known as
'Court Baron', the present house
was partly rebuilt in 1853, renamed
'Court Barn', and had its own
chapel. It is a small, but delightful
country house, set in five acres of
park-like grounds with an aura of peace
and quietude. Today, Court Barn is
refurbished with lovely antiques and
William Morris prints and fabrics,
whilst log fires, ornaments, pictures
and flowers give the house a homely and
informal atmosphere.

There are eight en suite bedrooms, two

Court Barn is known for its warm welcome
and personal service and relaxed
atmosphere.
A crackling log fire in at least one of
the lounges all year round creates the
perfect setting in which to relax and
enjoy good food and pleasant company.
The elegant breakfast room has views
across the croquet lawn to the 12th
century Clawton church. The main
restaurant is furnished with antiques,
and is perfect for enjoying the fresh,
quality food prepared each day to create
their delicious five-course dinners.
They are justifiably proud of the many
national awards (1989 to 1996) for their
wine list of 350 wines, the Tea Council
awards for their teas and the AA
Rosette.
Lovers of unspoilt countryside, safe
Blue Flag beaches, nature trails, cycle
trails, National Trust and National
parks will enjoy this unexplored part of
Devon and Cornwall.
Court Barn helps you to unwind from
stress and appreciate the old-fashioned
values of quality, comfort and
hospitality at prices you remember years
ago - and bargain breaks are available
year round.
